Claw Money Spray It, Don’t Say It Exhibition Recap

“Claw Money” opened at Eastern District in Williamsburg (or Bushwick, depending on who you ask), offering a DIY Brooklyn feel of its own. An array of (spray) paintings lined the walls, invariably featuring the artist’s signature claw icon in different colors – or perhaps colorways, as the artist has her own fashion line – sometimes with slogans and often with spray paint’s characteristic drips. While a couple of screenprints were refreshingly neat in contrast, the entire exhibition felt true to Claw Money’s graffiti roots and eye for fashion.

You fools just don’t get it – it was supposed to look like it came off the train. I loved the show – fun and super packed.

I don’t understand what your saying: “you’ve seen one claw you’ve seen it all.” Sure, its not cutting edge but to say it is not innovative is pretty ignorant when you are critiquing art. Take Andy Warhol for example. Look at his silk screens of Campbell’s soup cans. He would paint over the same fucking Campbell’s soup can silk screen 30, 40, 50 times for his exhibitions…. Maybe changing the title of the soup can or changing the color from red to purple. He is one of the most innovative and definitely one of the most original American artists in the past 50 years. This style of art production is iconically Pop Art, probably the most innovative visual art style to come out of the United States. I find that “you’ve seen it all” statement to be pretty ignorant.

Each posting I read is less fact and more opinion. What’s going on here?

First off – Claw was asked to do a show of her Claws, because they are so graphic and bold. She wanted them to look like they were off the street – keep it raw doggy style. All stuff was priced accordingly. Stop hating Oscar cause your broke ass can’t afford shit.

Seriously… why is Ron English (one of the most talented and REAL artist) associated with this Crap… I mean Claw. Just a lame attempt to make people think what was at that “show” was art, perhaps?

are you kidding me? im sorry but her art work really isnt that innovative. youve seen one claw youve seen them all. i can perhaps vouch for what look to be those two digital prints but those canvases look like she put very little thought into the color palette. smh
