Damien Hirst x The Hours “See The Light” Original Album Cover Artwork Contest
by Eugene Kan, April 12, 2009

With album art at an all-time low, leave it to Damien Hirst to inject some life into the dying artform with a contest done in conjunction with British band, The Hours. Damien Hirst’s participation goes beyond just the creation of the album art and also includes the releasing of The Hours’ new See The Light album and art direction for upcoming music videos. The contest hosted by Observer Music Monthly includes 20 signed litho prints of Hirst’s exclusive The Hours artwork with a further chance to win the original by Hirst which is valued at £125,000 GBP (approximately $183,000 USD). The procedure to win the original piece of art will be explained on April 19th. For more information check Observer Music Monthly which also features two videos, the music video “Big Black Hole” (art directed by Hirst) and a meeting between Observer Music Monthly editor Caspar Llewellyn Smith, Damien Hirst and The Hours as we see the behind-the-scenes of how the painting was created.
