When the Nike Dunk made its resurrection in the early 2000’s, the subculture of sneaker customizing hit an all-time high, allowing the industry to boom with an endless array of vibrant color choices and endless material selections. Since then, the scene has steadily hit a stand still, but the roots behind sneaker customizing still remain a highly regarded skill in different realms of design. Both Alex Nash and Tony Tay represent a couple of long-standing sneaker customizers that have turned their craft into viable outlets within the world of commercial fashion and footwear design. We catch up with London-based Nash and Singapore’s Lazy for a look into the progression of their sneaker creations, what has developed within their careers, and what they both have in store as the new year enters its second quarter.
