Staple 2009 Fall/Winter Preview

by Eugene Kan, February 5, 2009

FLAKE TV in conjunction with fellow blog brother Jeff Carvalho of High Snobiety/Selectism spoke with jeffstaple at last month’s Bread and Butter Barcelona regarding some upcoming collaborations in the pipeline. jeffstaple breaks down projects that include Penfield and Kangol (which includes a sick 5-panel) as well as a short break-down of their seasonal collection’s philosophy.

Is the pigeon played out? Probably…After the pigeon dunks…all of Staple’s other sneaker collabos have been a little blah to me. But, Xero does have a point. Jeff Staple is just marketing his brand and the pigeon is what identifies his label. You can’t hate on Jeff for trying to make his paper.

Jeff has been paying dues for awhile. I like minimalism with subtle details which keeps things little more classic and timeless. Respect.

When are peeps gonna realize that da pigeon is Staple’s fuckin’ logo? Bape has a gorilla and baby milo plastered on anything and everything. You got Murko for 10Deep, BBC…spaceman anyone? Can anyone identify Undefeated’s logo? Who’s Adam Bomb? My point is da dirty bird is Staple’s mascot. Fuck it, if Kangol did a collabo with Nigo or Pharrell…all u punks would be dying to rock that issshhh. Push aside the pigeon designs and you’ll see that Staples collection is definitely simple and grown up….nothing that the young punks who are hatin’ would appreciate. These punks should just keep jerkin’ off to the idea that one day, they, too, might own a pair of the pigeon dunks!

Nothing to radical but I like the look of it. I want to tone it down a bit this year so I’m going to be looking towards brands like staple for some solid cut and sew releases.

oh Collaborations?! yes! Just what I was waiting for more pigeon stuff!!!

I’ll get the Pigeon Penfield, with the Pigeon Kangol to wear with my Pigeon New Balance on my left foot and I’ll wear the Pigeon Converse on my right foot.

Thank you Jeff!! You are a God amongst mortals. Before you existed I was running around NYC racking up Pigeons on the street and squeezing them ’til they pooped on me. But thanks to you I no longer have to do that!!

This guy always has dope stuff. I just hate when someone takes or beats me to my idea ( when he says he wants to take make the clothes simpler and bring streetwear).
