Well spoken! I’m glad that he can explain clearly his views and opinions. Other than the Obama poster, his work has a lot of political definition.

I’ve never liked his work, but that was indeed a good insightful interview, and the Obama image has obviously worked very very well.

I don’t know if he considers what he does graffiti, typically being letters is diff. styles, and I don’t know if writers really consider himself a “graffiti” artist. He is a well educated, graduated from RHISDI, one of the top graffic design schools in the country. I love the fact that he is bringing the culture of posters back into cities, they are original and are free from corporate messages.

Kids take notice…Shep never said the word graffiti once…see it’s not what you do but how you do it. Seriously after 9-11 that’s like a dirty word….I took it out my vocabulary a long time ago. There are tons of dudes(me included) who wanted to learn how to “street art”(lol) as a stepping stone into the art world…all those handstyles….wildstyles…characters…spending time learning all that can control…and Shep comes along with stencling(and stickers) and just flips the script. He’s clever…..ordinarily we think the more skills you’ve got, the more reward and props you get….somewhere shep is having a good chuckle(inside)….saying “kids, this is how it should be done”.

I miss the early nineties also. Personally…… the image is nothing serious. I could and did do similar pieces in 20 minutes. He had an opportunity and took it. Good for him. Go 617!

Oh no here we go…Once you make it you ain’t dope anymore. I think he’s still pretty true to his art. You can’t always do the same street art over an over again. Posting Andre’s all over the cities. You have to evolve and grow as an artist. Because of him and other early artists like him, you see art plastered as poster’s on wall all over the city. He definitely inspired that art form that now every street artist and their moms does.

His street art was dope back in the day when it was almost exclusively just him. Ahh
