Red Bull Snowscrapers NYC

by L.A. Ruano, February 6, 2009

The Red Bull Snowscrapers event kicked off yesterday to a ruckus crowd in New York City’s East River Park. The Red Bull snowboarding team put on a spectacular show featuring the likes of Shaun White, Heikki Sorsa, Travis Rice, Eero Ettala and most of the Red Bull Global Team. The event showcased the skill of 16 of the world’s best snowboarders on an immense drop-in that stood nine stories tall, hitting an 80-foot-long hip jump. New Jersey native Shayne Pospisil took the top spot in a surprise win, snatching a fat $50K prize as well. More information regarding the event can be found at the official website.

I was there, the crowd was not loud at all. Everybody was acting to fly to be a fan.
I am a fan, I’m from Brooklyn…not the fake BK, the real ENY Brooklyn and I just couldn’t believe how NYC stood there. It was blisteringly cold and the man made snow, wearing a pair of Jordan 1’s wasn’t such a bright idea on my part.
All the riders killed it! I just wish the crowd was alot more into it.
    The Nike booth was wack!
Oakley bus had it poppin’ and the yacht…I didn’t go on.

I went… It was a little overrated. I was expecting nothing ive ever seen before. I would have liked a halfpipe better.
