In a look at COMME des GARCONS’ 2009 spring/summer collection, we’re met with an eclectic mix of offerings. Ranging from the conservative to the downright absurd, the CdG brand continues to incite question and conversation with their pieces. A number of patterns come into play including polka dots and stripes, while most outerwear is kept relatively basic. The absurd comes in the form of a quilt/man-skirt (… pause?) or whatever you want to call it, which while in the proper Scottish tartan context is passable, creates a piece which is virtually unwearable. Even Marc Jacobs who has been seen wearing a similar piece can’t turn this to gold.
