Banksy is still dope even if Brad and Angelina bought his art…sheit, I’dsell it to them too…nothing wrong with that…and yeah, it’s a stencil, but he composes his pieces very cratively and gets them is the raddest spots…I mean, his pirate crows, rats, guerrilla shows at the tate, etc….hate him because he got fame and fortune, but he’s still doing crazy shit….more than many artists, graff or not.

What bothers me is that there are so many great streetartist, lots of them are even better than banksy and they still don’t get credit for it, there just hoodlums with spraycans

i dont think Banksy would care about your lil rantings. The werld is theater…you got a lifetime to be famous!

  8. Posted by: c0ldfish on January 31, 2009 at 6:56 pm

    his messages are boring

    “war is bad”
    “poverty is bad”
    “high art is silly”

yeah, WE KNOW, come back with something new please.

his images are really lame too, boring cutouts of cliche things. anybody can do it, and by anybody, i mean a lot of people. ppl have been making cool stencils for forever. he is the urban outfitters brand artist for the uninformed wanker who wants to like graffiti but can’t figure it out.

alright well i know my opinion doesnt matter, neither does yours, but whatever. the fact that he gets paid millions for his paint is dumb (but we all know banksy himself isnt complaining, and neither would you) . but maybe we should question the humans purchasing rather than the artist. banksy is what you make him out to be, whether you consider him a political activist, a fine artist, or just a graf guy from the U.K. regardless of everything he paints walls and gets noticed by the world for doing it. and thats dope. i wish people would just leave shit alone and not question stupid shit like whether banksy is a good or a bad thing. but thats hypocritical of me because thats exactly what im doing right now. dont access, appreciate.

    To all those that say:

    - he’s a sellout
    - he’s not as good as ________
    - why aren’t we talking about ________ instead

QUIT HATING. He’s successful. You’re not. No biggie.

To those that say he’s not a graffiti artist:

    - look up the definition of graffiti.

people dont pay millions of dollars. Maybe 500 grand at the most. But anyways just because its a stencil doesnt mean there is no artistic merit behind it. He actually has to draw the stencil, and decipher where all of the shadows will be placed. If anything, people should use bansky as a prototype for how to hustle and create an ouevre about yourself. He goes out there and does his fucking thing and is fearless. that type of mindset can be used in any field of profession or aspect of life. Instead of hating, take something from him. Society wants artists to be the sacrificial little bitchs that needs the art world to make a name for themselves, and what he and damien hirst is saying” na fuck that, we dont need you”. Make moves or get moved, hustle or get hustled, grind or be grinded.

how come we dont pay any attention to Blek Le Rat, whom inspired banksy and all the other graffiti artists around the world..

  15. Posted by: Adam West on January 31, 2009 at 11:50 am

Yo Banksy does all his work alone (Read his book) and as for putting in time, he has placed his art all over the world. Stop hating cause great things are happening to a great artist.

  16. Posted by: JIZ on January 31, 2009 at 11:04 am

Man I can’t hate on anybody trying to make a living off of what they love. His stuff is sick and if he can make money off of it then more power to him. Just look at sheppard fairy or futura. Stay up Banksy!!

  17. Posted by: head East til ya'll die on January 31, 2009 at 9:04 am

banksy ain’t no graff artist , he is a street artist. graffitti artists are street artists but street artists are not graffitti artists tho.
anyway he made it and dude worked hard for it. dont care how, anyway all artists outhere want a spot of ligth too!!!

  18. Posted by: BADART on January 31, 2009 at 5:17 am

    Banksy is a sell out

  19. Posted by: what on January 31, 2009 at 3:14 am

I appreciate his works. Unlike so much graffiti, which may look either attractive or grimy depending on your prerogative, Banksy puts actual meaning into his art. There’s definitely a reason behind him putting up a social or political message in a fitting setting, it certainly isn’t just for walls to be illustrated on. I believe the entire point of Banksy to remain unknown was to act as a voice for the questioning half of society, and to communicate that collective’s thoughts, and not to sketch some trivial bullshit on a train.

Gotta disagree with his work being sold in auctions or to galleries though; this art belong on the streets for the public to view for free.

Banksy has already been revealed a while ago, google it.

  21. Posted by: jkay on January 30, 2009 at 7:57 pm

blame society, not banksy, he didn’t drug the world to make his art popular.

  22. Posted by: GeraLd on January 30, 2009 at 7:26 pm

I agree with 2B, it takes a lot more than just talent to get exposure in the mainstream nowadays. another dope one in the Graff game is TMNK aka NOBODY

  23. Posted by: realdeal on January 30, 2009 at 6:45 pm

wow, thought provoking comments, you people are truly amazing , truly.

  24. Posted by: adriano on January 30, 2009 at 6:06 pm

did someone just call shepard king? what the fuck happened to this world? i like the fact that it may not be one person that does the actual work on the street. He may just do the stencils and hand them out for others to put up and he may put them up here and there. As for him donating a large part of his money to charitys, who really knows?

  25. Posted by: Audacious Clothing on January 30, 2009 at 6:05 pm

This video sucked. If you want to see a good video just type his name in on youtube.

  26. Posted by: bam on January 30, 2009 at 6:03 pm

genius. banksy is what every artist aspires to be… known.

  27. Posted by: pissedoffsneakerhead on January 30, 2009 at 5:32 pm

Whats with the damn message that stays on the screen?!?!?! You cant see any of the artwork at all.

AND, is Banksy finally going to reveal him or herself? The whole mistery thing is getting old. Who knows though maybe if we knew who he was his artwork wouldnt be worth as much to us.

  28. Posted by: Philly on January 30, 2009 at 5:30 pm

There are definitely people out there who know exactly who Banksy is. To be honest I could care less because once you see him (or her?) it will most likely be a let down. I think soon we are going to see an over abundance of copy cats and he will have no choice.

  29. Posted by: 2b on January 30, 2009 at 5:19 pm

Honestly not knocking his hustle but it’s too many other artists out there who has paid dues in the graff world who should be getting exposure like that but hey it’s free enterprise. Don’t get it twisted some marketing guru is behind him or either gave him some advice….I thought Shep Fairey was king but even with the Obama piece Bansky is light years ahead. (Speaking from a marketing and promotion perspective) He has a eminent domain of privacy and mystery that is around him….all while still smashing in the streets.

  30. Posted by: cinderblock on January 30, 2009 at 5:12 pm

    ^im with u dope

people flip out like they just saw picasso’s ghost…its just a stencil people…yeah, it has some sort of meaning behind it but that doesnt justify spending millions on a peice of artwork that most likely took 5-10 minutes to produce….props to bansky and his success though, i cant hate

    ^^support REAL street artists

Banksy used to be awesome. I think I lost interest when people started to go crazy and pay millions of dollars for his pieces, but undoubtedly when you see his work you smile and it makes you appreciate it in a strange kind’ve way.
