leica m82 safari edition camera 1 Leica M8.2 Safari Edition

Knowing full well the almost cult-following of its highly sought after range of cameras, Leica follow up on their recent D-Lux 4 Titanium special edition with another limited release of their flagship, the M8.2. The 10.2 MP digital range-finder camera is seen in an iconic safari colorway, a style originally seen on the 1970s Leica R3 and marked by a symbolic vulcanite finish, something Leica has largely moved away from for some time. The Safari edition and its low 500-set run includes a Summicron 28mm f/2.8 lens, UV/IR filter, a matching Billingham camera bag and leather strap. The whole collector package will set you back a hefty € 7500 EUR (approximately $9,900 USD) and can be bought over at foto-konijenberg.nl.

Man, its weird cause I have a Sony DSLR A700 with a 80mm and a 130mm lens AND an flash tower. It cost me all together like 1500. But this camera is obviously better because its 10 grand.

try a vivitar ultra wide and slim or any other cheap film camera (note i did not say disposable!). and i obviously know plenty about this camera to say it’s overrated and over priced. even going digital one can spend less than $1000 and get comparable results. this is just a bently for hipsters that use cameras as accessories.

It’s pretty close in price to the regular M8.2 which is a serious professional camera. I definitely think there’s a premium for the “brand” but this a proper camera for an enthusiast. The lenses that fit these things cost upwards of $1500 so the price is the price. You won’ bet getting the same result from a $20 film camera if you have any skils whatsoever.

Sure you’re paying a double premium, one for this camera and one for the limited edition. But you obviously know nothing about this camera if you’re comparing it to a 20 dollar disposable.
