While the celebrity backing of Ato Matsumoto has waned in recent memory, the Japanese designer has quietly released some new and colorful versions of his Velcro Cowhide sneakers. Seen here is a multi-colored version combining both leather and patent leather in a bold concept. Available now at Revolution.

    Ugly as hell. Honestly, this design has been done to death. Regardless of how many colorways you give it….it’s the same shoe….Only hot colors on this shoe are the red/white and the black/white.

    It’s as if some of the posters haven’t been introduced to Ato’s work prior to this entry. Kanye’s work apes (pun intended), albeit poorly, Matsumoto’s designs. As for cowhide, it’s an indication that it actually uses real leather, unlike most mainstream sneakers (think Adidas, Nike, Bape, etc.) that use synthetics.

    Ditto on the prior poster’s comment though, Ato’s earlier work with the monochromatic or at most bi-color designs were more intriguing, allowing the design to speak for itself without the colors fighting for attention.
