November 19, 2008Uncategorizedby Eugene Kan19 Views

To help promote Uniqlo’s HEATTECH collection of insulating base layers, the Japanese brand staged a series of “human vending machine machines” at New York’s Times Square to give away complimentary pieces of HEATTECH. Claiming to be a revolutionary move in the fashion world, the fabric utilized for HEATTECH has the ability to turn moisture into heat with further insulating properties in the fabric to help maintain warmth according to Uniqlo. Over 20 million pieces were sold in Japan alone last year. Check the video for a full run-down of how the vending machines worked.

Excellent guerilla marketing initiative by Uniqlo. Not sure how the textile really works, but it sounds great.
