The lowrider scene has been strong in Japan since the late 80s and early 90s. Even with the emergence of the big wheel scene in the US their popularity remains. While the Japanese automakers have been exporting new cars by the boatload to countries around the world hungry for high quality fuel efficient vehicles, those same boats have been returning to Japan with a precious cargo of heavy Chevys, old skool Lincolns and Caddys for many years. The Japanese love cars and not just the ones they produce. The cities of Japan are full of exotic cars from all over the world and the streets are home to a diverse mix automotive genres and subcultures. Italian supercars, replica rally cars, old skool hot rods and lowriders all share the road with Honda and Toyota’s latest offerings.
