In 1967, a team of three college grads from Seattle hoped not fall victim to the inevitable grind of a 9-5 that awaited them following school. Between the three of them, Skip, Murray and Jan included passions and skills regarding engineering, sewing and the wilderness. Murray’s engineering skills resulted in an award for a design he did for an aluminum frame pack and as a result, he proclaimed would marry Jan if she created a pack that would sell. Named after Jan, JanSport was created. 41 years later the brand revisits the past with their Heritage Series, launching in 2009. Some of the brand’s most iconic bags will be re-released in authentic form. The colorful array of colors will result in 13 different styles and colors which will release in January of 2009 at select JanSport Heritage Series dealers.
