Our weekly top picks featuring our selection of the ten best stories of the week. Check out run-down of the selections after the jump.

Junya Watanabe Varsity Blazer

The first of two varsity jackets in my weekly pics, Junya Watanabe comes over the top with a sophisticated rendition of an athletic favorite. Once the mark of athletic acceptance, the varsity assumes a new classier role as it absorbs the flavor of a more refined blazer.

adidas ZX 90 Run

I’m eagerly looking forward to 2009 as I really tip adidas Originals and more notably its running line to really come to the forefront. I think what they’ve shown with the AZX Project is what a strong line-up they have and above all else some great profiles to work with. This ZX 90 is just what I hope is the tip of the iceberg.

whiz x G-Shock DW-6900

You’d think that a mostly black G-Shock would have become stale and obsolete given the exorbitant amount of different collabos and colorways we’ve seen from the durable watch company. Yet some how whiz spins it in their favor with this matte black watch with nice understated details in red.

Dorophy Tang “The Art of Printing” Exhibition

An interesting medium to present itself in an artistic light with the use of printers, Dorophy Tang is quickly putting her mark on the art world. This is a great step forward for China’s lukewarm art scene. While most notably known in the past for their often accurate reproductions of established pieces, it’s something of great interest to see things change directions to create original works of art.

Solebox x New Balance 1500 “Nazar Eye” Interview

Another solid and easy to wear shoe from the Solebox family. Doesn’t hurt it’s on one of my all-time favorites, the 1500 with its sleek silhouette. The Nazar Eye theme brings a nice little concept to the shoe to make it a more then just a nice colorway. The interview offered by New Balance Flimby’s Dan Newton sheds some light on what exactly Flimby means to New Balance having heard the name thrown around so often.

“The Universe of Keith Haring” by Christina Clausen

This should be on the list to see for anybody interested not only in the life of Keith Haring but the artist’s critical role in helping shape the contemporary art landscape. Although he was whisked away prematurely while still very much able to contribute to the artistic landscape, nevertheless his short stay has had a resounding impact so many years later.

A Bathing Ape Book 15th Anniversary

I think most will agree, Bape draws mixed reactions when you speak about its current run and identity. However, there is no denying the impact the brand has had over the last 15 years with their 15th anniversary book a testament to the brand’s hugely diverse plan of attack they’ve played. For any Bape fiend or anybody who appreciates a well put together pictorial adventure, the heavy set book features a number of different looks into the past, both within the last few years as well as the beginnings of Bape’s life.

HomeRoom 2008 Fall/Winter Collection

Alex and Gian of HomeRoom take a return back to their cut&sew roots with some well designed and intricately produced hoodies. Among my favorites are the Perfect 10 Wool, a well chosen two-tone execution.

Incase iPhone 3G Power Slider Case

I don’t even own an iPhone but I find this to be a great product release on Incase’s part. The benefits of twice the power and a design which doesn’t ruin the iPhone’s stream-line and pleasing shape are the makings of a great product. Given the iPhone’s inability to swap batteries, this is surely a necessity for the heavy iPhone users out there.

SiLLY THING Cashmere Underwold Stadium Jacket

As foreshadowed by my first pick with the Junya joint, the tail end of this week’s picks features SiLLY THING’s cashmere Underworld jacket. Sharing a hybrid-like approach, the SiLLY THING jacket takes things in a different direction with the use of cashmere, something not often associated with the hard-nosed football associations varsity jackets often carry. I would definitely like to see further images of this one.
