As the crown jewel of the SSUR Empire, the aptly titled frontrunning brand SSUR offers a great look into the mind of artist Russ Karablin and his blended Russian and American roots. In his 2008 fall/winter collection, his collection embodies a strong artistic theme with various Russo-relevant topics. From his use of traditional Khokhloma motifs to referencing the Russian equivalent brand of the Philly blunt, the seasonal offerings also include inspirations from old Japanese art work, Elvis and the latest Scary Hours Shark piece inspired the Wu-Tang Clan. On the New Era front, two styles of hats include the Fedora fitted which brings together a union of high class fedoras with the streetwear influences of a fitted cap as well as another interpretation of the Scary HoursSshark complete with symbolic gold fronts. The t-shirts are available now at SSUR*PLUS while the knits will be unveiled mid-month. A new SSUR website re-launch is on the horizon, check the site for mailing list details.
