R. Crumb’s Underground Exhibition Recap

R. Crumb has become one of America’s most influential and well-respected underground cartoonist and artist of his generation. His constant questioning of America’s popular society through his satirical style has become a defining characteristic his distinct style. In his latest “R. Crumb’s Underground”, the artist’s life-works including recent pieces done with his wife and fellow cartoonist Aline Kominsky-Crumb are displayed beginning with his career back in San Francisco. The exhibition featuring cartoons and more is taking place until December 7th at Philadelphia’s Institute of Contemporary Art.

    I saw the show in Seattle. It was pretty impressive to see those giant cut outs, but the jazz trading cards were pretty memorable as well.
