Although the craft of ceramics is a well documented style of art in the Czech Republic, it wasn’t until 2000 in which a new genre of the art was born on the shoulders of partners’ Jekub Berdych and Maxim Velcovsky. While most of the Qubus designs are initiated by Maxim, his designs including his “Cola Cup” are flashbacks to his post and the culturally significant product of Coca-Cola. In his youth, Coke would often illicit much attention in the Czech Republic with other instances of his youth trickling down into his work.
