Our weekly top picks featuring our selection of the best ten stories of the week. Check out what we picked and why we picked it after the jump!

UCS x Porter Ultimate Gym Bag

A new and better take on those little dinky gym sacks that barely fit anything and don’t breath but are cheap as hell. Just makes sense and it comes as no surprise really that Porter put it together so well for UCS. Sometimes you see UCS and it’s a far departure from North American MMA brands albeit their direction is a little different under the inspiration of Caol Uno.

Downshift Session 2008 Recap

Everything here when you throw it all together many not seem immediately relevant including video games, cars and graffiti. But I think sometimes you just have to look a little deeper to find something that bridges elements together that might not be surface deep. Mind you I don’t think this ended up being too contrived either, everything flowed well together.

Seymour Chwast x Freshjive McBus T-shirt

We’ve been pretty weary of throwing any and every political shirt that everybody seems to be jumping on lately. But this one done by Freshjive and illustrator Seymour Chwast was too good to pass up. This shirt is based on the premise that the election of McCain will result in a continuation of the previous 8 year Bush administration. The trademark style of Chwast I think takes a pretty fun approach to the whole thing despite the obvious ramifications that may lead.

Nike Sportswear Cortez Flywire

Nike has taken perhaps my most strongly dis-liked Nike shoe and given it a new life under the NSW treatment. Something about the Cortez irked me, maybe the weird sole and fat profile of the shoe. However after going on the NSW diet and incorporating Nike’s latest and greatest Flywire I am liking the revived model.

Bodega 2008 Fall/Winter Collection

Another solid boutique line and something I think speaks volumes for successful retailers. Their ability to move product, choose brands for stores and seen here… design a nice product all go hand in hand.

Levi’s x 686 The Times Limited Edition Box

When I first saw the box, I was astonished by the amount of work and detail 686 put into creating this special box set. No snow for miles around here, but a great way to cap off what was an awesome capsule of products between 686 and Levi’s.

Lifelounge x adidas Originals All Day I Dream About Sneakers

Sketches and generally far-fetched sneaker ideas are always something fun to see. I still remember being wow’d by the number of talented people that would mock-up designs for NikeTalk on their own time and incorporating fictional technologies. Although adidas’ campaign with Lifelounge is obviously fictional to the highest order, it’s dope to see various styles under some next-level inspirations.

Springfield Punx Simpsons by Dean Fraser

Growing up, The Simpsons were an integral part of my TV childhood. I’ve since pretty much stopped watching The Simpsons but for many like myself it’s firmly ingrained with the animation and character styles all too familiar. Dean Fraser’s take on it is pretty fun, some are better then others but the combination Simpsons x comic book heroes is something most can identify with.

Second Son 2008 Fall/Winter Collection Part 1

Best lookbook I think I’ve seen this year. Just an interesting portrayal of t-shirts in an unfamiliar setting.

OriginalFake x Nike Air Max Series

Although the colorways aren’t ground-breaking, I think these two styles are really a testament to how important it is when it comes to material selection on shoes. The use of the ACG-inspired tech materials are a good move in differentiating the product.
