Tate to Tate by Tommy Penton
by L.A. Ruano, September 2, 2008

Starting off as a concept back in 2004, renown West London illustrator Tommy Penton presents his latest work of art. Following a very rigorous process, paying as much attention to detail as possible, each character, building and feature were all drawn separately on individual pieces of paper then merged together with color added last. With over 14 stories in the book, the viewer navigates through London’s famous Embankment revealing certain historic and modern day notes. Not only does the book provide outstanding illustration work, but it educates the reader in an interactive way. Penton is currently looking to do similar projects with cities including New York and Tokyo. An exhibition featuring his artwork will be open until September 13th 2008 at the Menier Chocolate Factory in London as well.

dope
That’s amazing. I just got back from 3 weeks in London and that would be very cool to have. A lot of what I study is on how Londoners view themselves, so this is really intriguing.
