Fabrik always overpriced their work.. (Banksy signed Napalm was priced at HK$420,000 ($54,000) at their previous Banksy show in April) That’s about 8-10 times the secondary market value… The Murakami prints were not as crazy, they were only 3-4 times the current market value.. Who are they trying to fool?

These are great. It wasn’t just Warhol who did screen printing though, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtensten, and a host of others have employed it as a way to commodify their work. Murakami is following thier lead, but unlike those guys he adds his own characters to iconic images, in turn creating his own, brand new imagery. DOB+LV=something distinctly Takashi. http://www.myspace.com/jacobtheproducer

To the first two people above:

YES THOSE PAINTINGS WERE PRINTED. SCREEN PRINTING AND OTHER STYLES OF PRINTING ARE SIGNIFICANT PARTS OF “POP ART.” IT WAS A VERY BIG PART OF WARHOL’S SUCCESS AS WELL.
