All artists inspire me…as long as I know what I can do…..at night I sleep. My soul will continue to prosper…..some artists are known to masses and some are not…….

There’s a tattoo artist in Florida who goes by the name of Holden. He owns studio 954 and, for years, he has told people how he is KAWS. I’m glad to finally get to the bottom of this lie! LOL

    haters.
    kaws is HEAT.

It must be soul destroying to be an artist with talent watching Kaws stacking chips and getting rep with the shit he produces. haha suck on that art fags

Good or bad. How does he not get sued by the original artist for copying their work? Sponge Bob, Smurfs, Simpsons.

KAWS show was sick. All you haters probably couldnt do half the shit he does. All big mouths behind the computers. Gallery was great congrats Kaws. If only he did the original smurfs and sponge bob, i would have watched tv more.

Even tho I love spongebob, I want that graff feeling back :(

The show was cool…All I saw was artsy-fartsy types along with a few OG graf….kings….legends(whatever)…many who walked around with sour faces trying to figure out how can make that transition from the walls to galleries. In the long run this will be looked at just like the Music. It’s visual sampling…Ladies and Gentleman I introduce to you the “Eminem” of the Art world. Enjoy….

love it or leave it, but stop hatin guys! his work never was “lowbrow” & is def no more “street” but unique. most importantly he’s a nice person doin some beautiful stuff. a constatly growing fanbase & a lot of supporters in the contemporary art scene enable him to put out whatever he wants, without “aiming for a crowd”.
wish i had the time to fly over & see the show….

Yo Jacob, i think his stuff will live on as an overhyped marketing gimmick. If we’re gonna talk lowbrow/street art, there are countless better examples that really challenge stereotypes and the status quo, the true essence of this form of art. KAWS tries to make some sort of statement on consumerism but packages it as a product which is part of his irony but also a part of his inability to move beyond that initial statement. It’s the same as clothing companies selling you activism and rebellion on your t-shirts instead of you going out to the streets and practicing it yourself. The line between art and product has blurred in the last 20 years but we must be careful in what we call art and what we call selling irony.

for everybody who’s saying KAWS is just taking something and putting x’s on the eyes or whatever… you guys are haters. if it’s so simple then why hasn’t anybody else done it? he thought of it first, sometimes the simple things are the only things we need.

the exhibit was cool but the free champagne was better and the cute girls were a plus too…but as for “art” i dunno….

I love Kaws. I think his work will live on as a modern twist on pop art.
