Hypebeast Weekly Staff Picks – September 7th
by Eugene Kan, September 7, 2008

This week’s Weekly Staff Picks include Adam Kimmel’s Claremont video, the unmissable Men in Rescue Orange G-Shocks, Flight Club’s collabo with Spalding and Banksy’s attention grabbing piece in Alabama getting rubbed out.
Kevin – Adam Kimmel Presents Claremont
At the end of a long work day, it’s interesting to take a peek into the lives of others to see what they get up. I personally wouldn’t have expected one of America’s better known fashion designers to be bombing down hills haha. As well with well-respected Ari Marcopoulous, I sort of figured this was going to turn out to be quite interesting.
Jefford – Casio G-Shock “Men in Rescue Orange”
It’s quite common to see G-Shock reserve some of their crazier colorways for collabo pieces (albeit this isn’t a common collabo model like the 5600/6900s), but the final product of utilizing a search & rescue concept on these produce some stunning results. These are probably some of G-Shock’s beefier and more durable models but I think they tie in nicely with the inspirations.

Luis – Banksy Alabama Piece Removed
Truth be told, racism is still a hot button issue in modern day America. This piece certainly garnered the attention of many of our readers as well as myself, so I thought it would be my weekly pick. Not only because Banksy was responsible for it, but because of how one piece of stenciled artwork caused such a stir in the HB community, even within our comments section. I am always down to read other individuals perspectives, it just seems like this topic is a never ending battle with our past. Although our Nation has progressed immensely, sadly we still remain distant from Dr. Kings dream. I guess all we can do is look forward to the future and hope someday it will change.

Eugene – Flight Club x Spalding Basketballs
I had no less then five different picks for this week… yet this one gave me the most immediate wow factor throughout the past week. When anybody thinks a basketball, 100% of the time images of a pimply orange sphere are conjured up. Hence why these are so ridiculous as Flight Club thinks a bit outside the box to put together some unconventional concepts together on a ball. Both the tennis ball and black/black balls are fire. I would love to throw the tennis ball one at Jason’s face and break his glasses.
