Banksy visits New Orleans

banksy 01 Banksy visits New Orleans

Most certainly my favorite stencil artist, Banksy has made a living ruling the streets of England with his provocative, political and damn good masterful execution of stencil graffiti. With his pieces collecting ridiculous amounts of money, any city should be honored to get tagged up but the legend, well at least everyone except the authorities. Recently taking a visit to New Orleans, Banksy attacks yet another flurry of buildings with his trademark style, obviously referencing some of the latest political problems troubling our nation. Full images are available after the jump.

True statements, Roby. Also keep in mind that most artists do have a point to make through their art, but it might not be as obvious to the viewer as a Banksy piece.

I think Banksy embodies a movement that is brewing. It’s the idea that street culture and those who follow it have a chance to make serious change. What separates Bansky from a lot of other artists is that he has a point for most everything he does. Good art challenges people and I’m always happy to see him doing so. He’s making the art of tomorrow today .. (and has been for years)

also..to rayray..that someone spraypainting his name on a wall is quite possibly a 14 year old kid that is mearly in his early stages of becoming a great artist. The majority of well reknowned street artist began that way.

First of all..”noobs” is one of the most rediculous 21st centurey terms ever typed. Your a clown. Second;stickers, stencils, wheat pasting, etc. etc. etc. were methods spawned from graff artists as a quicker and sometimes more permanent way to express themselves. If you dont think Banksy started with only a krylon can, then your a “noob”hahahaha..his art is amazing and deep.

I cant believe some of the things that I have just read, first off, who’s to say whats art and whats not. graffiti has always been street art. The way I look at it is you can tell when someone put time and thought (love) into their piece. Banksy’s been around for a minute know, hes got some really good books. As for buying his art, your better off trying to rip the wall off. I never heard Banksy being one then one person, ya he’s gone out bombing with others. Anyways, hes an artist I respect and you.. check his website out, look at videos (looks like one person to me).

“graffiti is the new street art”? “new hype after the fixies”? wtf? where ya’ll been? graff and street art have been hyped and going on for centuries, son! Just cus u first saw it on an urban outfitters ad doesn’t mean its brand new.

graffiti and street art are two different sects of public art. they share similar aspects but they are two different things. YES, someone writing their name on the freeway is art, fool. everything is art. Also FYI Banksy or rather, BANKS WHY is actually more than one person.

i agree with the people who know what they are talking about(young arafat, ant, and guerilla monkey)…i think it might be the new hype after the fixies…

Great job Bansky. Yo, I randomly found one of his pieces while in London and it blew me away. The guy who owned the building place plexi glass over it so kids couldn’t ruin it. Bansky is a genius.

i agree when you say this is art but not all graffiti is street art. someone trying to spray his name on the side of a wall on a freeway is art? c’mon
