Aprix Footwear - Season Two

Posted by: Staff / August 20, 2008 / 11 Comments

Inspired by the term “Grand Prix”, the European motor racing series and the concept of sporting lifestyle, Aprix produces nautically inclined footwear with “old world” styling. The line was developed by Brendon Babenzien, creative director of Supreme, and business partner, race car driver and film director Michael Power. Now entering their second season, Aprix brings two new styles to the table. The APR-002 Beach is the first leather shoe for the brand, while the APR-003 Deck shoe continues the theme of classic simplicity. Both models feature the boat deck friendly gum rubber razor cut sole seen on the Aprix debut. Available Spring 2009 at Aprix dealers worldwide.

when I buy sneakers, I make sure that they have a ” boat deck friendly” sole.

Aprix’s website boasts that the shoes are created by the “refined palettes of three very different people.” Are they trying to tell me that it takes the “inspiration” of three “refined” people to create a counterfeit. I love streetwear and sneakers. But this industry has some serious creative block right now as demonstrated by a bunch of recent posts. It would be one thing if these were showing up at swap meets and flea markets. It’s quite another to try to pass these off as some ultra refined high end design. Designers are artists. They have inspiration, vision, and perspective. These guys have a pair of Vans and the money to pay someone to duplicate them.
