niko villamor pogo flow Niko Villamor: Pogo Flow

Hypebeast usually satisfies the reader’s hunger for new music from well known artists signed to major record labels on a daily basis. However, sometimes we at Hypebeast discover music that we are compelled to share with the daily visitors to the site. These are artists who may be underneath the surface of the mainstream with enough talent to break through or in this case an MC with enough skill and potential to be the leader of the new school. Niko Villamor is one half of the business minds behind one of Hypebeast’s favorite brands, Homeroom and he’s also an accomplished writer, as well as the marquee artist on the new Homeroom Records. The San Francisco native approaches this danceable, electro tinged, hip hop track aptly titled “Pogo Flow” with no allegiance to any conventional delivery and a hunger that shines through each bar. Sonically, the beat sounds like a mesh between the electronic indie rock flair of “The Black Kids” and 80’s revivalist Hip Hop. The way that Nikko handcuffs the beat with his conversational cadence and unique wordplay is proof that we haven’t heard the last of this MC.

For Allday: its actually called “Million $ Pogo Flow”. The reason behind it is because the beat is actually from a group called Digitalism and their song is called “Pogo”. Million $ Mano remixed it, Niko heard the remix and said “I’m gonna rap to this” lol. So in essence, he named it “Million $ Pogo Flow”.

“Hypebeast usually satisfies the reader’s hunger for new music from well known artists signed to major record labels on a daily basis.” Haha, really? Stick to fashion and the arts guys. Music isn’t your thing.
