yohji-yamamoto-09-spring-1 Yohji Yamamoto 2009 Spring Collection Preview

Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto is known internationally for the avant-garde spirit he produces within his clothing. While various designers follow trends and play it safe in a certain sense, Yamamoto takes the opposite route distancing himself from the pack. With the 2009 Spring preview, the use of black is in full effective with shades of secondary colors. Changing with the contours of the figure and movement there is inspiration drawn from many sources including Japanese heritage and even a hint of the Zoot Suit period. Combining modern attire with a throwback feel is very unique, something that is present in this collection.

I like the ol guy touch. Young faces are Generic and Yom is anything but a generic designer. He’s also ahead of the rest, being one of the few with a spring ‘09 collection up.

“He’s also ahead of the rest, being one of the few with a spring ‘09 collection up” Maybe he should have spent more time on his line?

Yo, honestly if you take any train thats goes to canal street, your bound to see someone wearing this look, whether it be a bum like comment 2, or an old oriental man just going about his business. nothing avant garde about that. pass.

those suits are straight, especially the first two, but not the shiny puff daddy looking one. whats up with the fat black model though? yohji’s slippin’

The looks as a whole may be bummy but this is a runway show. I’d fuck with more than one of those jackets….the looks are more extreme than each item on its own

First old dude looks like George Carlin yo!

ok….i dont feel i know enough about Yohji to call him wack but this season for this line is trash. Im sorry, but its utter garbage. thats my opinion but i’ll agree with comment 11, I would fuck wit a couple of those jackets… but only a couple.

We def feeling the 100% Wool with blue trim detail, thats the joint. Also feeling the last image on the left, small chain detail, and the fedora set it off. Yohji is going for the rough Vincent Gallo look with his models, unkept, yet styled out is always a good look. Any comments hear dissing the fact he has used old models to accentuate his line misses the point, The old man, unkept look is a current trend at the moment, and its supposed to contrast with his range. You gotta think, the art gallery owner, the crazy scentist look…I don =t think its a ground breaking range, but I think its pretty good.

    yoshi can’t do wrong…

i like both outfits in pic 3. The different lengths of the jacket are dope! The tan suit is classic night time boat cruise look. I think the black guy & his amish counterpart are classic…even Quest Love can get suitted up…but he gotta get a hair cut! LOL
