Much like how Japan-based UNIQLO took the United States by storm in 2006, UK’s Topshop is poised to enter the US market this Fall. Stumbling in the 80’s, Topshop made a comeback and is now the only brand that boasts regular gigs at London’s Fashion Week. Under the umbrella is Topman, its male-clothing division. With the recent success of the Kate Moss line, Topshop has its sights set on the US with a flagship store in SoHo, New York. Plans to open other retail outlets on the West Coast are forthcoming, and the brand is currently being sold through Barneys New York department stores. Like UNIQLO, Topshop has its New Generation program where they will be collaborating with new American designers, among them the “Topman’s Black Trouser Project”. Within it Topman worked with a series of prominent up and coming menswear designers including : Tim Hamilton, Patrik Evrill, Aitor Throup, Ann-Sofie Black, and Todd Lynn. Each designer showcases their unique take on the traditional men’s black trouser. The pants will be available come this October at the New York Topman flagship store and are said to retail at $120USD each. It will be interesting to see future projects merging American and British fashion.

Hate to break this to you, but Topshop is neither streetwear, cool, good quality or fashionable. What it is though is tacky generic boring clothes worn by the droves and the masses in the uk. So great if you want to look exactly like everyone else.

It IS fashionable- its marketed like all fashion…the idea is to sell it in mass- youc an wear what someone else is wearing and still look diff. or better or more unique. My problem with this is the price tag- why the HELL would I spend $120 on a topshop trouser when I can get a high end label on sale for the same price. EPIC FAIL topshop.

phillip, you obviously dont know topshop that well. theyre fits are so bad they limit you to wearing it in the same fashion as every other twat who bought them. like say……. your dad.
