Clipse: Fast Life
by Staff, June 18, 2008

Following the release of their critical success, but ultimately commercial failure Hell Hath No Fury, Clipse have reconsidered the direction of their music. They sounded flawless over Pharrell’s spaced out beats, but the unorthodox nature of the album’s sound was not received well by the masses. So, in a move that many people might scoff at, Clipse have been working with Scott Storch on the latest Re-Up Gang record. No one can deny Scott’s ability to produce bona-fide hits, but you have to wonder if his in your face style can translate to Clipse’s understated flow. Well, wonder no more because “Fast Life” has been leaked and it’s apparently the lead single off the forthcoming Re-Up Gang record. The track starts out with epic swirling synths that drops into a catchy hand clap beat. Malice and Pusha T do damage and seem comfortable on the clean sounding production. Maybe Clipse were always built for the big times, but only time will tell. The Re-Up gang will be releasing their LP some time this year, so stay tuned for more leaks.

Yeah, I mean I would definitely say I like their older stuff better than this song, but this song is still good. It is more commercial, but it is still better than half of the commercial junk out there. And remember, this is just one song off of an entire album.
After listening to the track “Fast Life” i see nothing wrong with it, dont know what most of yall are talking about. Yeah its different from their usuall style but i think it will put them over the edge as far as recognition from more people. People want mainstream
so wack.
Peep the KUMA hand behind dude !!
R U serious? This is terrible! Don’t tow the line hypebeast, we all want you to be right but this is not right!
i liked hell hath no fury, but i still like this more commercial beat, maybe after they recieve more mainstream success they’ll revert to neptunes beats….
Yea I agree, Clipse have definately taken steps backwards with this song..the beat is pretty wack in itself, and cocaine is basically what they know, and when they talk about it there best bars come out. Im disapointed that there openly trying to break more into the mainstream..hope the new album is predominantly filled with the Clipse we all know and love, not some Scott Storch shit.
This new direction is a couple steps backwards. Hell Hath No Fury is a perfect showcase of Clipse’s talent. I don’t know why they would ever try to sacrifice their unique skill for a more mainstream sound. Pharell and Clipse have routinely produced some of the most creative commercial hip hop songs around. Scott Storch is a generic cookie cutter producer.
Dear Hypeebast, your music reviews blow beyond belief. Although I like pretentious and contrived crap as much as the next man, your music reviewer(”staff”) takes awful and meaningless to new levels. IRA
OMG THIS IS SO WACK! they are throwing away their talent, and JESUS this is BRAND NEW DIRECTION. This track would of sounded better with the game on it lol
At least they’re not talking about cocane anymore, cuz that ish I wasn’t feelin.
