Nas: Fried Chicken feat. Busta Rhymes
by Chad Jordan, June 30, 2008

As the release date of Nas’ new untitled album draws closer, the anticipation is intensified. That anticipation has almost reached a new level of pandemonium as the legendary MC has leaked track after track of his most incendiary material yet. His latest leaked track “Fried Chicken” featuring Busta Rhymes is a conceptual song that is in keeping with the theme of racial politics, identity and controversy of the new album. The Mark Ronson produced track injects the producers instantly recognizable horn stabs and old soul flair over classic hip hop drums to head nodding effect. Nas and Busta drop rhymes that can either be described as a tongue and cheek ode to the female persuasion or literally a song about greasy high fat food and the stereotypes that go along with it. In less capable hands the idea would be incredibly contrived and corny but with Nas’ lyricism and Busta’s humor the track hits all the right notes.

Yo, this song isn’t about women!!! It’s about bad eating habits that lead to serious illnesses like hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, etc, . So call “soul food”, fried, greasy, and high in cholestoral is a major cause of the health issues that kills black people. Knowing that soul food isn’t healthy, still black people eat it. I’m tired of hearing people analyze this song like it’s just a about women, using fried chicken as a simile. It’s basically taking on a serious issue, any saying..okay this food that you love eat is killing you..so why are you still eating it. Busta said it best… “That’s just what ni@#as do!!!!
Truly a sick ass song fo real. this album has a helluva lot of potential i cant wait.
good lyrics! nas’ verse is crazy…
This is a good song, the album is looking really good right now. The mixtape he released with DJ Green Lantern was good, and hopefully the album is Better. The album is not self titled anymore, he changed it, and it doesnt have a title anymore.
