Cause S/S '08 "Lame" Sneaker

Cause has released its “LAME” sneaker on the Flauge outlet of the massive zozo.jp site. The “Lame” model is based on the eternally popular Converse Chuck Taylor. Released in hi and low cuts, we see a variety of patterns on dark colors and even Polka dots and velcro straps that we’ve seen before. On the high-cut model we see some extra detailing we are used to seeing on other variants such as Visvim’s Kiefer with external heel support. The “Lame” model has a slit in the back of the high-cut, reminiscent of Visvim x Masterpiece zipper aperture, later seen on the Wings & Horns sneaker. Overall we see there is many ways to recreate a shoe that has stood the test of time, and brands continue to pay respect to. More detail pics after the jump

A Chinese-born design student in Helsinki has chosen to document the “Warrior” sneaker, a Chinese national gym shoe that came out in the 70’s but is sold to this day. Shumeng Ye returned to China and documented the folks who wore these shoes, also capturing their lifestyle at the same time. It is ironic how something that was meant to be generic, practical, and uniform, for wear by the “people”, can be considered a desirable fashion collector’s item in Paris 30 years later. Massive update from Bounty Hunter today, it was worth the wait. A New Mexico/Chicano theme here, in celebration of brown power, and “El Camino” culture. We see some typically gangster house shoes with some intricate tatoo-ish embroidery. We have very typically latino plaid, as opposed to the more Northern American style check shirts. It wouldn’t be complete without some work wear and khakis to match. There’s a play on a famous Masonic symbol minus the Egyptian face printed on one of the slacks. Each element’s aesthetic features are applied, from the Earth elements brown tones, Wood’s black and green significance to tree bark and leaves and Water, seen in an appealing blue and white colorway.
