Yo! MTV Raps x Puma: MC Shan
by Staff, August 15, 2007

MC Shan was without a doubt one of the biggest b-boys in his day. 1983 marked his breakthrough year with the Juice Crew All Stars. His classic hit “The Bridge” is the influence behind MC Shan’s Yo! MTV Raps Puma sneaker. One of the immediate things you’ll notice is the mis-matched colortones, staying true to Shan’s style of mixing sneakers. A gold embroidery of the Queensborough Bridge can be seen on the side. Puma has also brought back the track jacket and the bucket hat as seen by MC Shan on the cover of his 1987 album “Down by Law”. A red shirt with MC Shan striking a pose is also included.

[...] Like fly to Vegas without knowing that any of my friends are in town. Basically I was in Austin but Flawless had to go to Houston and since we’re all going to Vegas on Monday to start filming for our reality t.v. show (read Dangerlion you noobs), I was kind of in limbo. I have 3 days to kill and it didn’t make sense to go to New York just to fly back on Monday so I just flew in to Vegas. When I got to the Bellagio I immediately dropped my bags off and went and got a massage and a haircut. But then when I went to the poker room I was upset to see that the action was basically dead. There were 3 10-20 NL tables and apparently that’s a surprising surplus of action for this time of year. It turns out that just about every poker player is either at Borgata or in Macau for some tournaments or something. So with nothing to do I played some live 10-20 full-ring. Nothing like playing half the stakes of the smallest game you play online combined with the slow pace of live action and the mind-numbing boredom of playing 9-handed (instead of my usual heads-up or 6-max games). So I hit a few hands, stacked some random tourist, won 4k in 4 hours, and was so bored that I couldn’t stand to play any more. Out of sheer boredom I took that 4k profit to the craps table, bet $100 on the pass line and $540 across on a shooter who hit one number and then crapped out, and then bet twice that on my own roll and did the same thing (one number then out). I took the rest of my profit to blackjack, bet $200 in two spots and only got paid 5 times in the whole shoe. So there goes my 4k profit. Now I’m in my hotel watching sportscenter, bored out of my mind. I guess tomorrow I’ll chill by the pool and read, play some online, and figure out a way to kill the time. Then Sunday it’s NFL football all day so I’ll keep busy with that and then it’s reality t.v. show time. But for now I’m ordering room service and hoping to find some semi-palatable movie to watch.Vegas baby, Vegas! Oh, and I bought these old-school tribute pumas. Felt like mentioning them because I kind of like having “MC Shan” shoes.http://hypebeast.com/2007/08/yo-mtv-raps-x-puma-mc-shan/ [...]
